Gut Healthy Stewed Apple Oatmeal

Ingredients

Stewed Apples

  • 1 apple, deseeded and finely chopped

  • 2 tablespoons sweetener of choice (agave, honey, or maple syrup)

  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Oatmeal

  • 1 cup milk of choice (or ½ cup milk + ½ cup water)

  • ½ cup rolled oats

  • 1 tablespoon sweetener of choice

  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

  • Pinch of salt

Optional Add-Ons

  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds

  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds

  • Drizzle of sweetener of choice

  • 1 tablespoon chopped walnuts, pecans, or almonds

Directions

Stewed Apples

  1. In a small pan, add the sweetener and heat over medium heat.

  2. Add the chopped apples and sprinkle with cinnamon.

  3. Cook gently, stirring occasionally, until the apples are slightly softened, about 3–4 minutes.

Oatmeal

  1. In a small pot, add the milk and bring to a gentle boil.

  2. Stir in the sweetener, cinnamon, and salt.

  3. Add the rolled oats and cook for 3–4 minutes, or until the oats reach your desired consistency.

Assembly

  1. Transfer the oatmeal to a bowl and top with the stewed apples.

  2. Add any optional add-ins you like and enjoy
